Adjusting the Tachograph Clock for Summer Time or Winter Time

In the Netherlands, you have to deal with daylight saving time (summer time) and standard time (winter time). In March, when summer time begins, the clock moves forward one hour. In October, winter time begins and the clock moves back one hour. Adjusting the time on the tachograph must be done manually. In this article, we explain how to set summer time or winter time on the tachograph.

Adjusting the Time on the Tachograph

If you want to set the tachograph to summer time or winter time, this usually has to be done manually. Adjusting the time on a Stoneridge and VDO tachograph is very similar, but there is one difference. The steps to adjust the time on the VDO and Stoneridge tachograph to winter time or summer time are as follows:

1. Check whether you are switching to winter time or summer time. Is summer time starting? Then the clock must move forward one hour. Is winter time starting? Then the clock must move back one hour.
2. Go to the tachograph on which you want to change the time.
3. Press “OK” to open the main menu of the tachograph.
4. Use the up and down arrows until you reach ‘vehicle input’ on a VDO tachograph, or ‘settings’ on a Stoneridge tachograph. Press ‘OK’ to select.
5. Navigate to ‘local time’ and press ‘OK’.
6. You can now adjust the time on the tachograph. The time changes in steps of 30 minutes. For summer time, move forward two steps; for winter time, move back two steps.
7. Once the time is correct, press ‘OK’ to save. A message will appear saying ‘Input saved’.
8. To exit the menu, press the back arrow twice and then press ‘OK’ to leave the tachograph menu.
