ITS Function
The ITS function is a new feature on the smart tacho 2. The abbreviation ITS stands for Intelligent Transport System. The ITS function makes it possible to view and transmit certain tachograph data to an external device. This data can be sent and received via Bluetooth by an external device such as a mobile phone, on-board computer, or another transport system.
Capabilities
The ITS function is built into the smart tacho 2 as standard and makes it possible to view and transmit tachograph data. For example, you can use a mobile app (such as the VDO Driver App) on your mobile phone to operate the tachograph from a distance of up to 10 metres. This can be particularly useful when you are loading or unloading and still need to activate the loading and unloading function.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth connectivity on a tachograph is not new. Since the digital tachograph 2.0, which was launched on 1 October 2012, it has already been possible to fully operate the tachograph via Bluetooth. However, this previously required additional hardware — in the case of VDO, a dongle that could be connected to the front of the tachograph. With the Smart Tacho 2, no additional hardware is needed for this function, as it is built in as standard.
